Tackling the job of a GM
Well, we had our Fantasy Football draft on Saturday. I thought I was doing OK until after the draft was over. To be honest, a draft, like my league has, is extremely entertaining, 12 to 15 guys in a room with a draft board trying to outsmart each other.

Here's who I picked for my team: QB-Vince Young, QB-Matt Schaub, RB-Frank Gore, RB-Clinton Portis, RB-DeShaun Foster, RB-LinDale White, WR-Reggie Wayne, WR-Hines Ward, WR-Lavernius Coles, WR-Mark Clayton, DEF-Jacksonsville, K-Stephen Gostkowski

Overall, not too bad, though I wish I had more depth at running back. Quarterback could be a little shaky, but, if Young and Schaub play like I think they will, I could have a nice problem on my hands.

My running backs have to stay healthy or I'm going to have give up some depth at receiver to get another decent back.

Only one week until the season begins. I can't wait.

Fantasy Land
This evening, I return to Fantasy Land. I'll be participating in my first fantasy football draft in a long time. I'm really looking forward to it, although I think the fact that I worked in the media has some league members a little concerned. I'm hoping to pick up a running back with our first pick at No. 7 and then maybe a quarterback at No. 18 in the second round. Although, I might look for another back in that spot, because I've got my eye on a couple quarterbacks that will probably be left in the third round.

Fantasy football can be addictive. I've been thinking about the draft for two weeks, going over various scenarios. With that said, I really don't have a plan. I've got some ideas, but I think I'll sit back and watch how it all plays out. The people that get engrossed in preparing for the draft will be highly entertaining tonight. Some have laptops with special programs designed for the draft, all I'll have is a cheat sheet and a magazine.

Who will have the advantage?

Let's just say I'd bet on the guy using the old school method.
